Plan A was to be a game of two halves, with morning sail at Hayling (IOTB) and an afternoon one at West Wittering.
Got to Hayling about 9.15am and there were a couple folks wallowing way out. Wind looked pretty gusty but thought could be ok. Rigged 6.9m Duke on Freewave 115, and gave it a few minutes to fill in while waiting for Dave.
Dave arrived before the wind did, so had a chat, and then he showed me how his old (my new) camera worked.
Wind started to fill in so suited up and sure enough it dropped to naff all. Great !!
Oh well, it gave me some time to play with the camera and chat to the beach hut owners who were busy repairing their arson damaged huts.
Didn't look a lot of good, so packed up my kit .... and right on cue ... yep, wind started to fill in again, only to drop off again almost as quick as it came in.
Another half hour or so it looked to be fillign in proper, so we went up the golf club end as looked cleaner wind there, and less fishermen to dodge.
Dejavue ... rigged 6.9m Duke and Freewave 115 again. Suited up .... and wind eased momentarily, but filled back in.
Was a bit marginal at first but was planing and staying upwind ok, and then picked up a couple of knots and started to have some proper fun. Probably only sailed for an hour or so, but was pretty good fun.
Nice to sail with Dave again as not sailed with him for ages and nice to meet Mr Fish too, both on slalom kit mind.
Spotted Charlie blasting about on his Ram and iRonic and even got some pics of him, although with the little lens they are a bit more atmospheric than action-tastic .... time to check ebay out for some longer lenses to pimp my cam.
Nice day, good company, and fickle wind .... but I knew I'd get a sail today somehow, somewhere ... LOL
